For Immediate Release – July 25th, 2011

Conn-Selmer, Inc., along with Laura and Bickford Brannen, are pleased to announce that a total of seven deserving students were chosen to receive the 2011 Avanti Fund Scholarship. The Avanti Fund Music Education Scholarship was awarded to Candace Hamar, Kavin Ley and Steven Skolnik, who will each receive $2,000 towards their tuition costs to pursue their Bachelor degrees in Music Education. Also receiving $1,000 to become more competitive in their respective fields, are Avanti Fund Conn-Selmer Employee Scholarship winners Hayley Clay, Courtney Cromas, Laura Gentry and Jacob Vollmar.

WALTHAM, MA - January 20, 2012 - Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc.

(NYSE:LVB), one of the world's leading manufacturers of musical instruments, announced today that it has reached an agreement in principle to sell its band division to an investor group led by two current directors of the Company: Dana Messina, former CEO, and John Stoner, Conn-Selmer President.  Samick Musical Instruments Co. Ltd, the owner of 33% of the Company's common stock, will provide a portion of the financing and acquire a significant equity interest in the buyer.

John Stoner, President/Chief Executive Officer of Conn-Selmer, Inc. announced Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser has been named as Vice President of Education for Conn-Selmer Inc.  Tim served as the company's Executive Director of Education since 1996.  In addition to the acclaimed summer event, Conn-Selmer Institute, the Division of Education continues to support music educators via many outreach programs connecting directly with music educators around the world.

Conn-Selmer instruments are helping students on the small island of Loboc in the Phillipines make music in times of adversity.   Students ranging from 3rd to 12th grade on this island nation have the opportunity to participate in the Loboc Youth Ambassador Band, a poverty-reduction project of the Loboc Youth Education Association.  The program was developed by local music educator, Mr. Argeo Melisimo, and is conducted by another local conductor/arranger, Rene Balbin.

Musser is in its new home at the Elkhart, Indiana campus and doing well!  In the past two months, production has ramped up and fulfilling customers’ expectations are at the forefront of daily efforts.  Orders have been satisfied for bells, chimes, vibraphones, kelon xylophone and marimbas.  Here’s what a couple customers reported:

School dealer Tarpley Music in San Angelo, Texas recently purchased three instruments from the new Musser location.  Wes Sutton shared these words about them, “I received the shipment in a timely manner, and it was for the San Antonio Symphony percussionist.”  He continued saying, “It’s simple. Musser helps me take care of my customer and I do business with people who take care of me.”

Towson High School Music Department in Towson, Maryland bought a Kelon Xylophone.  When asked about the playing experience of the instrument John Olin said, “Works Well!  Great product so far.”
